Happy Belated Anniversary To Us…

Yesterday Bobby and I celebrated our 7 year anniversary. Rochelle asked me not long ago to share our love story from the top. I wanted to wait ’til our anniversary to blog so here it goes… I asked Bobby to help me with the words and he is the author of our true love story.

Bob and Debbie met at a Dance Club called the Rockin’ Horse in 1996. Debbie had always wanted to learn to dance since she was a little girl. She finally found the courage to go by herself and really enjoyed it. Bob saw her across the Dance floor one night and ask her to Two Step. She said yes and they danced. The next time they saw each other, Debbie couldn’t remember Bob’s name, but eventually he made an impression and she finally memorized it. Over the next few weeks, they danced more often, especially to slow songs. Bob finally got the courage to ask Debbie to the movies and she promptly said NO!

Bob was perplexed since everything seemed to be going well. Debbie liked Bob, but was scared. Bob stayed away from Debbie for quite a while. He didn’t want to be pushy. Eventually, he asked her to dance again, but he never again asked her to slow dance. One night, when a slow dance came on, Bob was surprised to receive a tap on the shoulder. Much to his surprise it was Debbie asking him to dance; Bob agreed and realized that Debbie was letting him know that he might want to ask her out again. Bob wasted no time asking her to the movies and, for him, she made an exception.

Bob and Debbie’s first date was to the movies. Their second date was a motorcycle ride along the beach with dinner at “Dos Amigos” Mexican restaurant. They played a cat and mouse game for a few months, but finally things got serious. Bob bought a new house in December of 1997 and Debbie started to spend a lot of time there. Bob didn’t know what to do when Debbie started to cook dinner, do his laundry and iron his shirts, but he soon got used to it.

On Christmas morning, 1998, Bob told Debbie he had a surprise under the Christmas tree. There was a small silver ornament hidden in the tree. When she opened it she found a diamond ring and he asked her to be his wife. She said YES.

Bob and Debbie got married on July 31, 1999 in Stuart, FL. Two weeks later, Bob received the shock of his life when Pratt & Whitney announced that they were moving his job to Connecticut and he would have to move there or lose his job. He started searching for jobs on the Internet and found a perfect job with Lockheed Martin. Unfortunately, it was in Korea! Bob asked Debbie, “How would you like to go to Korea?” Debbie replied “I’ll follow you to the ends of the earth”. And she did. Bob applied and a few months later he got the job. One month they were worrying how they were going to pay the mortgage without a job, and the next month, they were flying First Class to Korea. They lived in a penthouse suite overlooking an ancient castle on the Nam River. They flew often to Seoul to go to American restaurants like Chili’s, Hard Rock & Outback Steakhouse. They learned to love living there and made many friends and experienced many things.

They never got to go on an official honeymoon, but while living in Asia, they were able to spend their first two wedding anniversaries in Hawaii, the closest US state. They traveled all over Korea, Japan and spent time in China. They climbed the Great Wall, visited the Temple of Heaven and even got to see the sunset, on Sunset Beach. They can now say that they have literally been from here to Shanghai! After spending 2-1/2 years in Korea, they returned to the US. They decided to stay with Lockheed and moved to Fort Worth, TX. They have been there for 4 years now and are waiting for that next big International assignment so they can travel the world again.

They have been married for 7 very happy years now and proclaim they are still on their honeymoon. Although the remaining chapters of their lives are yet to be written, they know exactly where they will be in 20 years… together; living out their Love Story happily every after.
