To Everything There Is A Season

I’m reflecting over this past year and the words of this song feel fitting.

To Everything

Turn – The path to home – Autumn

Turn – Winter

Turn – Spring (yesterday)

There is a season – This past summer we watched our home take shape

Turn – Last autumn we moved in

Turn – The first snow of the season before we moved to California (October 2009)

Turn – Yesterday, a beautiful spring day

And a time to every purpose, under Heaven – I believe that, I do.

A time to be born – That 3 car garage hubby dreamed of

a time to die – Our little red rental sits out in the drive as our other vehicles are already in Cali never to enter those doors again.

A time to plant, a time to reap – The grass seed was sprayed last autumn.  And the gardeners will be here today to give the grass its very first cut.

A time to kill, a time to heal – Saw our neighbor across the way (in our backyard) catch some fish this week. I’m sure the experience was healing in and of itself..

A time to laugh – I was happy to have our home in shape

a time to weep – I could’ve wept over this sight last night.

A time to build up, a time to break down – Hubby taking down a sentimental chandelier that follows us wherever life’s path may lead

Crystals on the table waiting for him to wrap

Placing the frame into the crate and is stabilized by the support beam.  Then adding popcorn for protection.

Adding the lid

A time to dance, a time to mourn – I dance at the sight of this Korean pottery that I collected while there and mourn at the thought of some of my pieces breaking the last move. I trust they make this journey in one piece.

A time for love, a time for hate – Love is such a beautiful thing and I’m thrilled that we are in this together. I guess I hate that we didn’t get to spend just a little bit more time in our home. But now that we’ve reached the end of this road, we’re ready to move on.

A time for peace, I swear it’s not too late – We’re at peace and look forward to this upcoming change with zest.  We feel our home sold in record time as it was only on the market 4 1/2 months.  Now we can really move on.

It’s A Party

And Susan AKA Between Naps On The Porch is hosting Metamorphosis Monday .

Creative juices emerged last evening the moment I stepped foot out of the car. I spied leaves lying so perfectly on the drive. But they weren’t your ordinary leaf; they were dotted with special drops from an early evening shower. I was smitten at first sight and didn’t waste time capturing all the pretty pools of water.

I spent a good portion of this afternoon relaxing and letting the creative juices flow.

From this

To that

And the other

And this leaf, although it didn’t have the pools from the rain, I couldn’t leave it out.

So I mixed it up a bit

Again

And again

And the last set, the original beauty all dolled up

My first spin at it

And another

Hope you enjoyed this segment of Metamorphosis Monday . Thank you Susan for being our host.

Mosaic Monday

Mary from Little Red House is hosting Mosaic Monday and I thought I’d share a sample of my art.

I was “drawn” to draw these pears last year and can’t stop thinking about the joy each drawing brought.

I’m hoping to use the artistic side of my brain as soon as we get settled into the home we’re currently building, I really miss my art.

This is my first Mosaic Monday post and I look forward to doing more of these fun posts in the future.

Do drop by and visit Little Red House as there will be wonderful Mosaic pictures to enjoy.

Hooked On My Kitchen

It’s Hooked On Friday’s and I’m hooked on building our new home and focusing my attention on the kitchen.

My pieces of (Korean Celadon) pottery arrived from Seoul South Korea yesterday. Oh what a delight!

Since my kitchen is decorated with green celadon, I was feeling a little on the nervous side of trying to figure out what color I want the walls painted. So I ordered some pottery since ours is locked away in storage.

Here’s a little leaf plate, I already have this exact same plate but in the large size.

And here’s the small peony plate to match the large one I have.

I figured I couldn’t go wrong ordering two plates as a girl can always make room for more, right?

And for a sneak peak of our counter tops.

I don’t have a sneak peak of our cabinets but they will be maple and will match the brown represented in the counters. I think the green pottery will pop with the darker cabinets but now I’m starting to waffle on the wall color as I originally wanted a light green.

I’m going back and forth on the flooring as I would like to go with wood but in a lighter color than the cabinets or shoot, I just may go with tile. There’s so much to think about when building a new home…any ideas for the wall color?

Hope you’re enjoying your Friday and don’t forget to check out Hooked On Friday’s, you too are welcome to join!

Hooked On Friday’s – Winter Weather

It’s Hooked On Friday’s. Julia is hosting another Hooked on Friday’s event and she’s hooked on Dutch Doors. So hop on over to Julia’s to have a look at what many other’s are hooked on!

I’m hooked on the ever changing weather the last few days. At one point it felt like spring was in the air, the bright sun and warmer weather melted the snow and I could almost feel the blossoms beginning to burst. However, this week took a turn for winter. Who am I kidding, it’s still winter!

Here’s a few pictures from the backyard this past week.

A look up into the sky Wednesday afternoon.

Wednesday evening was cold and dark and the snow was coming down in silver dollar size hunks. Those were the largest snowflakes I’ve seen!

The little poinsettia is propped in the windowsill – It looks like she’s begging to go outside.

Thursday afternoon I couldn’t help but notice the gorgeous blue sky with the contrast of orange shadows from the setting sun splashed upon the hill.

Don’t forget to check out Hooked On Friday’s for more wonderful things we’re “Hooked On”!
