We Don’t See Eye To Eye

Bobby and I didn’t see eye to eye last evening and considering he’s the ‘King Of This Castle’ he ultimately makes the decisions. I love him and respect him for that but this time my friends, he’s entitled to his opinion and I’m entitled to mine.

So last evening I had to close the windows early (before Bobby got home) as it was getting a tinge cool outside. So after dinner our little deer family was back with two new babies that we have not seen! I was so excited that I was in cutting up three apples to toss out to them and Bobby was preparing to open the sliding glass door and the screen for me. And I really wanted to get some great pics of the little ones but hardly any luck as they were rather ‘high strung’ skittering constantly.

The little family eating up on green apples

The little family scattered about

As you can see the little one on the far left decided to make his little jerking, jumping movement damaging the picture and out of 33 pictures last night, you would think I would be able to get some good ones but it gets worse.

See how they just won’t hold still for their pictures?

So here’s the part where Bobby and I didn’t see eye to eye. Bobby noticed a ‘chill’ coming from the door and commented “ya know, the hottest it seems to get around here is just comfortable”. And he seems to be concerned that summer is not warm enough for his taste. And on that note, we had to agree to disagree. And all is well, happy and wonderful as he thanked me for the bazillionth time for being here with him, for being his companion and for loving him and telling me that home is wherever I am. This guy does amazing things for my heart and for that I’m forever grateful!

The Strawberry Festival

Bobby and I started our afternoon at the downtown Strawberry Festival.

And these dogs just made me laugh right out loud. The little Doberman was ready to eat that big Doberman for lunch. The big Doberman was like “ya want a piece of me, bring it on bay-bee”!

Fun stuff to look at and more fun stuff below

Had no clue tie dye was back

Some Strawberries

I love Historic Downtown

And a great day for the Festival considering it was supposed to rain

Jazz music in the street and that little man was so cute pretending right beside the band.

The little rock climbers

We had a nice little rest under this shade tree before we left and then we went to a nice place for an early dinner on our way home.

Now we’re back home to chill the rest of the day.

Closure

Closure is one of those things that occurs before celebrating new beginnings. So last week, Bobby and I had already bid farewell to the movers, our stuff was long gone and we were left in an empty shell of what once was our Home Sweet Home.

After we finished with the cleanup of all the rooms in the house, we were left standing in the beautifully clean kitchen. It was then that our eyes met and he held me with his eyes and he came to me with open arms and said “Thanks for making this house a home Debbie”. And that’s all it took for me to let the tears fall. It was a beautiful closure that evening and when we walked out that door, we never walked back into the house again. Even though we had to return to the garage to put some trash out to the curb, we never walked back into the house from that embrace on. It was over and we will always hold on to the wonderful memories that were made.

Yesterday was the official closing for the new owners and we wish them a wonderful new beginning in that home up on a hill.

Mr. Kato

I started off my morning at the drawing board. Long after I was hunkered in Bobby called to see if I was ready. Ready? ~ Ready for what? Well he wanted to know if I was ready to come meet him for lunch? I didn’t think twice and told him I would be out the door in 5 min. There are many times like this that he doesn’t have a chance to call me ‘til the last min and not to worry, I can always make a lunch date with him happen at a moment’s notice.

After our little lunch I continued back at the drawing board and the little guy is almost completely sketched. I still have to define his little nose and he is officially a little work in progress at the moment.

And I know Arlene would be proud as I have defined the background. I’ve learned that it’s important to have the background defined before starting the rest of the subject so that’s pretty much taken care of. Even though the bg is not finished it’s now ok to start filling in the subject, which I’ve just started doing.

Another thing about Kato ~ I took his little picture last summer but did not like the background of the picture. I decided to put him on a baby palm tree and then add a nice whimsical background and there ya’ have it thus far.

Below are the pictures I’m using to get Kato’s little expression and show how tiny this little guy really is. And since I’m a huge lover of monkeys, he’s my first try at drawing an animal ever.

A Fun Weekend With My Honey

Last night Bobby took me out for a dinner and desert date. Following dinner we stopped by Sam’s Club to shop around. I got all caught up in the book section looking through an interior design book and Bobby said he was going to finish the isle and come around the other side and catch up with me in a bit.

Shortly after Bobby left I got all hung up on a particular page and couldn’t wait to show Bobby my exciting find. My head was still glued to the book but I saw Bobby’s leather coat pass by and I called out “honey… honey…” Pausing for a second, I looked up from the book calling “honey” to what I thought was Bobby. By this time I realized it wasn’t Bobby and I just began to “act” like I was looking for my husband. Boy I was so embarrassed but at least that guy thought I was looking for my honey.

Today we’re going to go browsing for a house and I think we’re going to march back to look at some of the areas we really liked. We still have the 1 year lease on the apartment which lasts through December but we can’t wait to get our feet wet now that our house sold!

An Enchanted Evening

We had a nice little date at a brand new restaurant for us. We went to Moxie’s Wood Fire Grill and it proved to be a very big hit. We have now added that restaurant to our “favorites” list.

One of Bobby’s friends from work told him that we had to try that place telling Bobby just how magnificent it was. What a wonderful relaxing evening and we enjoyed our private cozy little corner. And the dinner was cooked to perfection!

Couldn’t help but sneak a pic of my sweetheart

We started off with a bowl of clam chowder served with fresh bread. We both ordered the Filet and I had the sautéed baby spinach with roasted carrots. Then when our waitress came to the table with the dessert options I couldn’t help myself when fresh carrot cake (my favorite cake) was an option. And Bobby had the raspberry cheesecake. What a wonderful evening spent together.

Let Me Call You Sweetheart

To keep my posting in order, Here’s a little bit about our Valentines dinner and the last couple days.

My sweet valentine had reservations made a week in advance so that we could have our special date on valentines without having a long wait.

There was even that special song “I Love You Truly” sung by a group of musicians. They also serenaded us with “Let Me Call You Sweetheart, I’m In Love With You”. Dinner was delish, the music was delightful but the greatest gift of all was right there by my side. He gave me such a beautiful card and a wonderful gift I wasn’t even expecting.

We had a very relaxing evening last night and watched a nice movie together.

Today we woke late and just hung out and kicked back all day for the most part. This evening Bobby asked where he could take me for dinner and with that he took me to another one of our favorite restaurants. I’m so thankful for my sweetheart and so blessed to have his undivided love each day.

Happy Heart Day

Valentines is a once a year occasion where our hearts flutter at the wonderful sights of pink hearts and chocolates. I go back to school days where cards were exchanged with all the kids in class. There was something about passing out valentines and receiving valentines and there is something so enchanting about exchanging cards with my only beloved valentine.

Finding a perfect card is something I take my time doing and when I find it, I just know and the search is over. I found Bobby’s card last week and have it secured to present to him this evening.

This year we have reservations for our favorite Japanese restaurant but many times we spend the evening at home with a nice quiet dinner without the crowds. But no matter what we always exchange cards.

I’m so happy that at the end of the day true love does abound. I’m so thankful Bobby sprinkles extra special love potions all year long just because, not because he has to. And Valentines Day for us is just another wonderful love day shared together with two hearts that beat for each other every day of the year.

All Hunkered In

Last evening (late as in just before we went to bed) Bobby went out to get the mail and this

is the goodie he brought in. Every time Clay Times arrives, it’s like Christmas reading through all the pages and soaking in all the lovely pieces of art. It’s an every other month issue so I really cherish it when it arrives. The sad thing is, it’s my last issue but Bobby insists I get it again even though we don’t know how long we’re going to be at this address. As he states, just make a change of address at the time and don’t worry about it. I think he’s on to something and I may have my new subscription submitted before the day is over.

In just a bit, I’m going to be curling up here on the loveseat and ottoman, soaking in the wonders this magazine has to behold. Oh and I’ve just put on a fresh pot of coffee for this grand occasion too!

And as for the day, it’s perfect conditions to stay indoors. We have sleet/rain falling and Bobby is also here with me as the roads are covered in ice. Bobby tried to get out this morning and saw several accidents in just the short distance he went and noticed a slew of mailboxes knocked down at the bottom of the hill. And just about a mile away from home a cop was there and would not allow him to move on any further. He learned that road upon road was closed and the interstate that he normally takes was closed as well. I’m just so thankful he made it back home. Now he’s all set up with his laptop conducting meetings via the phone from home.

The weather conditions should change as it’s supposed to be warming up a great deal today but for now we’re hunkered in. And this is the breakfast I made for Bobby, just because…

Happy Tears

I can’t begin to say how happy I am to have my dearest back home. I was so overjoyed that tears bubbled up from deep within and soon my eyes were a haze of tears from the wave of emotion. There is so much that I miss when he’s away like; I miss cuddling each night while watching TV, a movie or whatever. I miss doting over him, I miss his hugs each day when I least expect them, I miss his voice, his smile and the way he looks at me. I miss the way he makes me laugh and falling asleep and waking up in his arms each day, there is everything to miss about him when he’s away.

While we were busy catching up on all the things I missed, my heart was truly overjoyed and it spewed over the top with happy uncontrollable tears several times throughout the day. It’s so good to have my darling home as he is my better half and right by his side is where I want to be always and forever.

Down Day Yesterday

Don’t know how else to word it but I wouldn’t exactly call it a melt down “yet”. I was supposed to begin my day with my realtor to see a new property that just came on the market last week. And the really cool thing is that it was just about 5 min to work! Hubby and I were both so enthused with the looks of the home and the views were out of this world! Well that didn’t happen.

Just as I was getting ready for my appointment, the realtor called to say that that house was taken off the market the day before. The gentleman did not get his relocation like he planned, so he’s going to stay put in that home. That’s just fine and I didn’t take it bad at all as I know something is out there for us somewhere. Hubby and I have always been big fans of patience and we’ve learned time and time again that it pays off.

So yesterday I set off doing my own thing but for some reason the realization of these hotel walls got to me. I began to feel these walls closing in around me and I closed myself in and shut the world off. Not a good thing, but that’s what I did.

By the time Hubby came home from work, I had pulled myself together and was anxiously waiting for him to come home. We had a nice dinner alone and talked about our plan and where we go from here. It was a wonderful evening and Hubby made me feel so much better.

We came back to the hotel and hung out together enjoying a few shows and had fun just hanging out together. I had already decided not to tell Hubby about my down day as I didn’t want to put this undue pressure on him. He’s working hard and I didn’t want to burden him with my little “off day”. Well, right in the middle of our wonderful evening

Hubby asked – Is everything alright?

I smiled and said – Things are fine darling

But he sensed something and continued – What did I do?

Debbie – Nothing honey you’re fine

Hubby – What didn’t I do?

Debbie – Honey you do everything just right. (tear) Kinda had a down day and these walls closed in on me.

Hubby – Darlin’ thank you so much for being here with me and putting up with this hotel – you mean the world to me and I couldn’t make it a day without you, everything is going to be alright.

That just melted my troubles away and I’m back on my feet raring to face this beautiful day. I’m off to the salon in a while to get a nice little cut and some color. If Bobby can swing it, he plans to meet me for lunch. I feel so blessed to have such a wonderful caring and loving husband and so thankful he’s really tuned into me. I’m on top of the world today!

How Many Realtors Does It Take To Find A Piece Of Land?

Apparently more than one. Today makes Realtor number 8! And I don’t think we’re that high maintenance either… Hubby and I were actually referred to this new Realtor by one of our friends here at the hotel. And I think I’ve just found our Realtor whose going to finally go to bat for us.

  • Realtor #1 ~ is no longer in the business and is being sued for over a million dollars. She’s in BIG trouble.
  • Realtor #2 ~ Was a smoker and his car smelled of smoke. One strike and they’re OUT!
  • Realtor #3 ~ was a gal in PA that told us there was nothing available
  • Realtor #4 ~ another gal in PA that sent an e-mail providing a few listing saying this is it.
  • Realtor #5 ~ yet another Realtor in PA that only showed us her listings in PA and told us she would let us know if anything else comes on the market. We think she’s only showing her listings as that’s all we saw so we moved on.
  • Realtor #6 ~ Realtor was so pushy and my personality just did not gel with her at all. I have nothing bad to say about her, it’s just that I felt nervous around her. It’s normally just me out with these realtors and I was wishing so badly that Bobby was with me on that day.
  • Realtor #7 ~ The realtor I just went out with this week and is not providing what we need nor is he returning my calls.
  • Realtor #8 ~ Lets just say we truly hit it off and I felt so comfortable with her right from the start. She was so soft spoken, down to earth and made me feel so relaxed. Thanks to our new friends Doug and Evelyn for recommending this gal, I think she’s the one!

I’ve had a wonderful week. Went shopping for houses, spent a lovely day with my buddy Jennifer downtown where we shopped and had a lovely lunch. She introduced me to what is now my absolute favorite department store. I just can’t remember the name of it but I’ll tell ya, I’ll have no trouble finding it though. I looked for apartments yesterday, a place where we can go when the company kicks us out of the hotel. We have an appointment to look at and a place tomorrow morning so we’ll see how it goes. Hubby called and asked if I’d like to join him for lunch today. We had such a fun lunch date and tonight we have plans to go downtown for Gallery Night. It’s going to be fun and I also get to see my friend’s work displayed in one of the galleries, how neat! Hubby will be home soon and then we will be off exploring.

Here’s wishing all of you a Happy Weekend!

More Shopping

This week has been moving right along. Yesterday I spent a good portion of the day at the mall. I have many clothes to buy more like winter clothes. I’ve been hanging out in my short sleeves from the moment we arrived but we can definitely feel a wonderful change in the air.

I’m off house hunting again this afternoon. Our new Realtor has some goodies to show and I can’t wait. But before my little trip, Hubby asked if I would like to meet with him for lunch today and that sounds like a wonderful plan.

Surprise

We’re on the threshold of turning a new chapter in our lives. We will turn our last page in the south and begin anew up north sometime late August. As much as we’ve enjoyed our stay in the south (5 years now), it’s time to move on. That’s right, we’re moving!

We were cruising along when out of nowhere a job opportunity fell into Hubby’s lap. He was approached way back in early March with a promotion. When Hubby asked “how would you like to move to north” once again I replied, “I’ll follow you to the ends of the earth.”

Hubby’s interview took place on April 27th. It was the ‘business trip’ I talked about when we came up north, as I didn’t want to disclose those details at the time. The company provided a ticket for me and put us in contact with a Realtor in the area. I went house hunting while Hubby was interviewing and we spent quite a bit of time surveying the land. The picturesque landscape took my breath away from the moment we arrived. I was immersed in paradise and the beauty of the quiet rolling hills called me home. By the time we got back home the notion that moving north could become a reality hovered within the nooks and crannies of my mind. And for the first week or so Hubby heard me utter the phrase, “I’m homesick for the north.”

On the morning of my birthday, I was getting numerous calls and birthday wishes when Hubby called. He asked if I was at my computer and the answer was yes. Then he said to check my e-mail. I opened my e-mail to see his ‘JOB OFFER’ right there before my eyes. I was elated beyond belief and tears began to trickle down my cheeks. He could hear the excitement in my voice and there was no need for him to ask how I felt, he already knew.

Before long, we will begin our new journey to what seems like a far away and beautiful land, one where we are ready to call home. We’re looking forward to this new unexpected chapter of our great adventure. Farewell to the south and Good Day to the north!

Happy Birthday To Me

Today I celebrate my 38th birthday. I woke up this morning with Hubby holding me and giving me special birthday wishes.

As I finished packing his lunch he was ready for work and presented me with my special card and gift. He always chooses the nicest cards and gifts. My gift was wrapped so beautifully that it was too pretty to open. Hubby apologized for such a small gift as I was opening the tiny box and out popped an iPod nano. I have so many awesome songs that I can put into that iPod and I will begin the process today! Maybe in a few weeks after I have it all figured out and post a list of my top 20 songs by artist and title.

I got another really cool birthday gift this morning. I just received a phone call and right after I said hello there were 3 voices singing Happy Birthday to me. It was my nieces and nephew. They sang the whole song through while I sat here with the biggest smile on my face. After their song we had quite the interesting conversation about American Idol talking about our favorites and who we were sad to see leave so early. One thing for sure, we were all in one accord when it came to Taylor Hicks!!! The girls used their mom and dad’s cell phones and the house phone to place as many votes as they could.

From the time I was growing up Birthdays always had special meaning for my brothers and me. We were meant to feel like Kings and Queens on that special day. We got to choose the meal of our dreams and tell mom what kind (flavor) of cake we wanted. Mom always made those special cakes tailor made for us. Our birthday cake was always a “big surprise” too. She would cover that cake and not let us see it till that special moment when we were to have the “cake cutting ceremony” or something like that. I received flower cakes, doll cakes and an assortment of cakes while growing up and I wish I had some of the pictures to share, but I don’t. The pictures remain in my head and I have a visual image of them there. My birthday was a day I shared with my dad so I think he got cheated on the choice of food. Dad was 24 years old on the 24th of May when I entered this world as his daughter.

Pizza was ALWAYS my #1 choice meal for my birthday and I am going to carry on with that tradition tonight. I want Papa Johns pizza, thin crust with pepperoni and mushrooms. Oh that sounds so yummy as we have not had Papa Johns in a very long, long time. I’m also going to sit and watch American Idol while I’m enjoying my favorite pizza and hopefully watch Taylor Hicks become our American Idol as another birthday present tonight.
