We Get Our Sofa Tonight

Finally our last piece of furniture will arrive tonight. Actually Bobby and his buddy (Quinton, a single young man who works for Bobby) are going to go pick it up. And I’m making dinner for the guys. Bobby has already put in his dinner request so; it’s back to the grocery today to pick up the ingredients for dinner and desert.

Bobby can’t seem to get away from Mexican so I’ll be making shredded chicken flautas and tacos along with Mexican rice and a few other side items. He told me I could surprise him with desert so I’m thinking perhaps churros, an apple pie and Ice cream or making his favorite strawberry cheesecake. I still don’t know but I’m sure I’ll figure it out by dinnertime.

We found the furniture for our living room from an ad in the paper. We got a dark brown Italian leather set complete with a chair and ottoman. The original owners only used this set for a year and its in very good condition. The only problem with it was the sofa had a very bad obvious stain running down the front of it. Bobby proceeded to tell the couple that he was not interested in getting it because of the unsightly stain. Then the lady replied, “It has a full warranty”. So we agreed to purchase the set if the stain could be repaired. So right after Christmas we gave her half the money and we brought the loveseat, chair and ottoman back to our place.

Between now and then, the company was out to her place to repair the damage on the sofa but was unable to repair that revolting stain. So we were told the company was going to exchange the old sofa for a new one. Finally the new sofa will be delivered to the owner’s place today and we get to pick it up this evening! I still can’t believe the deal we got on this set and now we get a brand new sofa. Talk about getting more than what you bargain for, just gotta love it!

Happy Tuesday News

I’m normally not a go back to bed in the morning kinda gal. Mornings come and I greet them with my fresh ‘Cup O’ Joe’ and I’m off to begin the day. However, this morning was a different ball game. I got up with Bobby laid out his clothes for the day and fixed his lunch as usual but did not start the coffee. For some reason I felt like curling back in bed for just a moment.

I lay there for a little while and the next thing I knew I felt like getting up. I don’t remember waking but I must have gone into a deep sleep as I rolled out of bed at 11:55 AM! The last time I remember doing something like that is when I was sick. I don’t think I need to take my temperature as I feel good as new and that extra rest must have been just what I needed.

Of course I could blame it on my night out on the town over at Jennifer’s house last night. She had a Tomboy Tool party and what FUN we had. If you’ve never been to one, I highly encourage you to do so or shoot, just have the party at your house. I promise, you won’t be disappointed.

So here it is going on 1:00 PM and I’m just finishing my coffee, well there is about 2 more sips left in the bottom of my cup. And I just finished eating a little fruit. Perhaps I’ll start to think about some lunch around 3 or 4 this afternoon.

Oh and for the rest of my day, I’m catching up on all my ironing and I have some food shopping to do.

And last but not least, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my dearest loving mother. She turns 63 years young today and what a beautiful and wonderful woman she is inside out! I feel so privileged and blessed to be given to her as her daughter.

Hope all of you are having a Happy Tuesday and I’ll see all of you around soon! Ta Ta!

Happy Tears

I can’t begin to say how happy I am to have my dearest back home. I was so overjoyed that tears bubbled up from deep within and soon my eyes were a haze of tears from the wave of emotion. There is so much that I miss when he’s away like; I miss cuddling each night while watching TV, a movie or whatever. I miss doting over him, I miss his hugs each day when I least expect them, I miss his voice, his smile and the way he looks at me. I miss the way he makes me laugh and falling asleep and waking up in his arms each day, there is everything to miss about him when he’s away.

While we were busy catching up on all the things I missed, my heart was truly overjoyed and it spewed over the top with happy uncontrollable tears several times throughout the day. It’s so good to have my darling home as he is my better half and right by his side is where I want to be always and forever.

A Gorgeous Day

I just love the view out the back of our apartment and here’s a picture of our gorgeous day.

It’s been quite a fulfilling and gorgeous day. Mr. Sunshine lasted all day long and I’m so happy he didn’t melt all the snow away. We’re supposed to get more this weekend so I think we’ll be all set in that department.

I set out sometime around 3:30 this afternoon to get my nails done. Then I made a few stops along the way home like filling the tank with gas and dropping by my favorite grocery store.

I just got in from all my errands and I’m waiting on a call from my dearest. It’s truly been a good day and now I can prop my feet up and get busy transferring more posts over here.

Ma Is Feeling Better

This pic was taken in November while visiting ma.

Ma had such a bad day yesterday. She was very, very sick and I’ll just leave it at that. Bobby was there right beside her caressing her head and holding her. He was telling me again how good his mommy was to him when he was a young boy and how she did the same for him. He was so thankful that he could give just a part of that back to her.

She was finally able to get some rest and when she woke at 10:00 PM she thought it was morning. He’s been staying right there by her bedside even while she sleeps and he was so happy he was still there when she woke last evening. Bobby said she was finally back to her old self and feeling so much better. She was able to carry on conversations and he could tell she was completely free of the meds.

Bobby’s sister Rita from Alaska will be flying in tomorrow to be with ma and his other sister Cindy from Missouri will be coming in as well.

Bobby will be home tomorrow and I’m ever so ready to be back in his arms.

Ma, Another Pretty Day And Such…

Had a nice visit with Bobby last night on the phone. Bobby told me that he’s concerned with ma’s progress as she’s unable to feed herself nor has she been able to complete her train of thought and she would just abruptly stop mid sentence. However the nurse told him that this was common especially with all the meds that she’s on right now. He’s been such a great son pampering his momma by feeding her and being right there by her side.

I’ve been busy trying to get my site up to date transferring all my old blog’s from my old web site over here. It’s a lot of work but this is the site I plan to call home and it’s worth all the effort.

It’s another beautiful afternoon as I sit here watching the pretty snowfall. We’ve had the pretty flakes around here 3 days in a row and I have sure enjoyed the pretty white ground cover this winter. If it were up to me, the ground would be pretty white all winter long.

I don’t have much planned while Bobby’s gone but I do have tomorrow set aside for a little pampering to have a pedicure and my nails don before Bobby gets home Saturday. It sure is not the same when he’s gone and I’m looking so forward to his return Saturday evening.

Ma Is Doing Really Well

Ma came through her surgery just fine, she is in good spirits and as Bobby says “She’s sassy as ever”. Aw, I’m so happy he was able to be with her and he made it there before she came out of surgery. She’s doing well and she’s so happy to have her baby boy with her.

I must have done something right as I reserved a pick-up truck as it was the cheapest rental on a days notice. When he got in to the rental car place, they had no pick-ups left and he got a Hummer instead. From what I can tell, he LOVES the ride and has not complained in the least about all the gas he’s going to have to put in it.

I also found a bed and breakfast for him. It’s very close to the hospital where ma is and he keeps saying “honey, you would just love this place”. He told me this morning he got the “PINK” room. The owner joked with him saying “normally a man doesn’t select this room” He said “well then it’s a good thing I’m color blind because I don’t mind it one bit”. And if you remember from posts past, my guy is not afraid of wearing pink either, he’s quite confident in his manly shoes. But the main reason he picked that room is because it was bigger and had a larger desk in it. My man’s biggest “need” when staying anywhere is to have “roadrunner” and a desk for his computer. But when I asked if it had pretty fu, fu he said I would “LOVE” it. Now I want to go there next time we see ma. And he concludes with “Honey we should run a “Bed and Breakfast”.

Ma Is In Surgery

Bobby just called to say he’s on his last stretch and will be with his mom in a few hours. Ma’s surgery started at 11:30 this morning and Bobby should be there by the time she wakes from surgery.

Both Bobby and I must be running on fumes today as we got one hour of sleep last night. We were up past 2:00 AM and we were bouncing out of bed by 3:30. Alright it was 2:09 when we hit the sheets but I could not go right to sleep, too much on my mind. I am using the excuse all day that I only got one hour of sleep, so watch out if I goof up.

The airport is just down the road a piece from where we live (approx 15 or less min.) and Bobby wanted to make sure I got home safe after dropping him off at the airport. When he called the house there was no answer so he reached me on my cell phone. When he asked if I was in bed, I replied “I’m at the grocery store”. He wanted to know if I was going to get any rest, it doesn’t look like it. My body does not feel deprived of sleep and I know I’ll be up ‘til nightfall.

I had my friend Jennifer over for a visit this morning and we had a great time. She got me all fixed up with some cool stuff on my computer and I can’t wait to get those tools in motion!

Say A Prayer For Ma

We just learned Bobby’s mother will be losing her other leg tomorrow. She was so upset and in tears when she called Bobby tonight and asked if he could come. He got a flight out and will be leaving at 4:30 AM. Please say a prayer for ma if you think about it. What a wonderful son Bobby is to drop everything to be with her during this upsetting time. His sister Rita and her husband Dan from Alaska will join ma Saturday.

Ma’s been having some trouble with her toe and we learned gangrene set in. We knew she was in trouble and she was taken to the ER today. When she called me at noon before her trip to the ER, she was expecting to lose that toe. But when she called Bobby tonight, it was so sad to learn she would be losing her whole leg. We’re praying all goes well with her surgery.

We’re Not Hallucinating Over Here

We had a wonderful weekend filled with a bit of a mystery yesterday. We purchased my new “Favorite” drink at the Sam’s Club as I have been waiting to get my hands on this drink ever since my neighbor Joanna introduced it to me last week. Joanna and I were having a nice visit in her apartment above me when she offered me a drink of green tea. Out of the fridge came this bottle of green tea with citrus flavor and it was positively delish! It was a nice cool refreshing kind of drink and I was determined to have it in my pantry by the weekend.

Bobby and I had our little visit in Sam’s Saturday evening I spied the green tea bottles and Bobby piled on a case of those into the cart. When we got home I put several in the fridge to cool so they would be all ready. When I rolled out of bed Sunday I had such a hankering for one of my green tea’s that I started in on my citrus green tea before my coffee.

But there was no way I was going to start my day without my coffee either so I had a fresh pot of brew going before too long. By the time my brew was ready, I was more than ready for a cup. I had my cup and cream all ready and then poured the coffee when it was finished. I swirled my cream around and oh for my first good sip. Yuck, what’s going on, this stuff is not right, so I tried another sip just to set my confusion straight. Yucky, yucky, this stuff is nasty. Actually I thought it was because of all that citrus green tea that I had been drinking and thought the coffee was waking my taste buds from the citrus green tea.

My frustration began to mount when I fixed my diet drink mid afternoon, the same thing was happening and I could not get away from the fruity taste even in my Diet Pepsi. By this point I decided I was not going to have any more of my tea and if my neighbor wanted the case, I’d let her have it as it was doing a number on my taste buds.

Bobby had been drinking his caned Diet Dew throughout the day, so that evening when I was preparing dinner; I made him a glass of Diet Dew poured from his bottle and with fresh ice. Bobby was eating along and when he took a drink he said, that fruity tea is in my drink now! Ah ha, something has to be going on and it’s not just my taste buds. Bobby asked me to check to see if I had used the tea to make ice (we don’t have an ice maker here so I’m making our own ice). I took out all my green tea bottles from the fridge and counted and there was only one missing, the one that I had been drinking out of that morning. Bobby was so funny when he said “I know I’m not hallucinating here” and I chimed in I know you’re not either but this is just awful! I went to the fridge and grabbed a water bottle because by that point I just wanted to drink something that tasted right. I took a sip of water from my little bottle and that wasn’t right either. I ‘LOOKED’ at the bottle to see Raspberry Splash on the bottle with raspberries running down the side.

Can’t we all just get along?

That explains it as I quickly remembered that the ice and coffee were made with the splash and the ice was what was throwing us off giving my yummy green tea a bad name. Now we have a whole case of the raspberry water that we picked up at Sam’s and I have that chilling now too to see if I can like that as well.

So Ya Think You’re So Smart, Do Ya

Yea right, I locked myself out of my apartment, that’s what I just did… I have been enjoying our nice warm weather this winter and have had my windows open enjoying the nice breeze. Today I even had my car windows down as I went to and from the grocery, ah for the beautiful fresh air. So, I didn’t think anything about it when I just stepped out to throw a load of laundry in. The laundry room is just the next room over from our apartment and I normally just pull the door so that it looks closed when I step out and today I did just like I’ve done all other times. The only difference is, you guessed it, the cross wind grabbed my front door so hard that it slammed before I could blink. Our door stays in the automatic locked position always and I’ve just learned a valuable lesson to always have my keys on hand.

So there I stood perplexed on the very cold concrete with my bare feet wondering what to do. And mind you we have company coming (our friends Donnell and Michelle, the ones we met at the hotel) over tonight and I have things to do other than just stand around twiddling my thumbs. So I quickly started knocking on my neighbors doors trying to find someone who was home. I moved on up a flight of stairs as the first floor came up empty. Soon a nice retired gentleman came to the door and when he learned my dilemma he immediately called down to the office to ask for our spare key to be brought down. I let the nice man go and I went down to wait but this time I stood on the wood stairs as they were much warmer than the concrete below. I waited around for about 15 min when the nice man came out to see if I had been rescued. He brought down a nice pair of socks for my feet and a blanket. Quite frankly, I didn’t need the blanket and my feet were fine on the wood as I was truly absorbing our beautiful day. But I did thank him so much for the offer, how kind of him.

So I was standing there contemplating walking around as I’m on the first floor and my screen door (which I just noticed the lock was broken as it’s the first time I’ve had my windows open) was open. But, I had this huge area of cold stone to cross in my bare feet and I could only imagine ending up with a twisted and sprained ankle or a broken one at that (not what I need).

When I told the nice man my thoughts about walking around, he offered and with that he went around, let himself in and came through the front door letting me in. I just learned that he got the answering service and the maintenance crew and the office were closed for lunch. Ah what a nice man to let me in and get back to my work. Ok, so that’s the excitement for the day, now I need to resume with dinner plans.

The Beauty Of A Snowflake

It was a brisk cold morning last week when Bobby needed me to take him to work. He left his car at the mechanic’s for the inspection the night before and he needed a ride to work the next day. As I was getting all situated and fastening my seatbelt, I had a very strong urgency to capture these snowflakes on my window. It was no small feat and after snapping picture after picture here’s what I gleaned. For some reason, these snowflakes on my car window had me mesmerized for just a little while as the heater in the car melted these little gems just minutes after we were down the road.

It’s so hard to believe after having such a cold spell lasting for quite a little while and between yesterday and today we are having some of the best balmy weather yet this winter. Yesterday we enjoyed highs in the low 60’s and today’s high was a beautiful 65. I’m enjoying paradise.

We’ve been quite busy getting our place all furnished and now we are expecting our last piece of furniture tomorrow evening. I have my kitchen fully equipped with everything necessary to prepare meals and have all essentials like my coffee pot, toaster and the like purchased and in full use.

Now I have the decorating part left and oh the fun it’s going to be shopping for all the fu fu stuff’s.

It still feels like a whirlwind around here and I feel so far behind. I wanted to post other pictures from our trip to FL but the time is quickly getting away and now it’s old history. I also need to get in here and get all my Christmas backgrounds taken down and give it a new face lift but for now I’m just going to sign off.

P.S. We went to bed at 6:30 last night and I think all the shopping and late evenings are catching up with us. Bobby did get up for an hour and ½ to watch part of the football game and then back to bed he came and we slept so sound all night.

A Merry Christmas In Florida

Christmas in Florida was such a very special treat this year for not just Bobby and me but my whole family. We were privileged as a family to all be home for Christmas and we were also blessed to have both of my grandmothers with us as well. My mom’s mom has been staying with my parents for a couple months and dad’s mom was able to fly down from Ohio. It truly was a very special Christmas and our days were filled with some very special times and wonderful memories were made. We were also blessed to have my Uncle Steve and his wife Sharon visit for our Christmas Eve Brunch.

I’m going to transition from here to my Christmas Album.

The next picture is of Grandma and Dave.

Here are Ash, Jen and Ry’ – Dave and Pam’s three children

Bryant and Brenton are Dan and Chris’ children

Mom prepared such a wonderful Christmas Eve Brunch and Dad and the boys got in on it too. Grandma made her famous sausage gravy and we had some yummy biscuits to accompany that. And before I get carried away with mom’s entire menu, let’s just say she had everything from coffee, orange juice and grape juice to cinnamon rolls and everything in between…

Ry’, Bryant and Brenton help with the brunch and Ash and Jen enjoy the great outdoors one evening.

Our Family Christmas Eve Brunch

After our brunch on Christmas Eve, Bobby, Dan, Dave, the kids and I headed to the park for a game of “Flag” football. We played – We, what we? They played and I took the pictures. I actually didn’t plan to go but when Bobby asked, I couldn’t resist and I had so much fun.

After the game of football we moved on over to the park area where the kids enjoyed more play time. I was a happy camper too as I took advantage of the swing set. Bobby even pushed me on the swing and I felt as young as a kid again. P.S. The swing is and always has been my absolute favorite on the play ground.

Jen finished mom’s cheese ball by adding the nuts – Mom made two cheese balls one for Christmas Eve and one for Christmas day. By Christmas night, we had both of them polished off.

It seems snacks did abound 24 – 7. Chris making the chips and salsa plate while Pam replenishes the veggie and dip tray while Ash samples a cucumber and dip.

Opening gifts on Christmas Eve. It’s my family tradition to open gifts on Christmas Eve and mom and dad still carry on with that tradition.

Bobby opening our ‘Ove’ Glove gift from Grandma. She gave us a pair of these and I just used them for the first time tonight. I love these gloves as they grip without the pan slipping away.

Dan and Dad help prepare Christmas Dinner. Dan slicing the ham and pop mashing the potatoes.

On any given evening you would find the table looking something like this. Cards have been a favorite family game weather it’s Rook or Poker. Below we have a family game of Texas Holdem Poker happening and it looks like it’s Dan’s turn to bluff, check, call, bet or fold.

Dave and Grandma were such fun at the card table.

The kids enjoy Rook while the adults are at another table playing cards.

Bobby fits like a glove in my family and I love that so much. I’m ever grateful he’s in my life providing love, support and undivided devotion each day.

Pretty Snow Fall

It was a disappointment of sorts when we got home to see the snow was long gone. Guess I’m still a rookie but I’m enjoying the snow we’ve had thus far. I did say a prayer for it to stop when I was trying to get out of here for Christmas but now that we’re home, Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow. I have not gotten around to praying for more snow yet and I was so surprised to wake to this pretty site.

There are times where I truly think I could get used to this. I’ve abandoned my long winter coat as I detest being all bundled up. A long sleeve shirt and a sweater with a nice fleece are getting the job done. I’ve yet to get out my scarves but I do have my gloves at the ready.

Bobby even chuckled at me a couple weeks ago when we had all that snow on the ground. As we were getting ready to leave the apartment I said “Let me see how cold it is outside”. With a just one step outside I could tell a sweater was all I needed. Has my blood really gotten so thick in this short amount of time or am I crazy? One thing for sure, as long as it’s pretty white, I’m in awe…

I Think I Get To Go To My Parents Today

It appears we’re getting a break in the weather and it looks like my evening flight will depart on schedule. It was such a bummer to learn my early flight was canceled this morning. I was up by 4:45am getting ready for the airport when I learned at 5:30 my flight had been canceled. As a matter of fact, all the early morning flights were canceled and the next flight for me is 5:30pm.

We had more of the pretty white stuff this morning and this was the second day in a row that I was praying for the pretty stuff to stop. Not only was my prayer answered, but have a look at just how pretty it is out my window. I’m sitting here at my computer at the table looking out my sliding glass doors at this beautiful scene. It’s jut not fair for me to talk about and not share the pretty view so here ya go.
